These are some standard group Road Rules that are meant to insure everyone's safety.

1. When riding in a group of two or more, ride in a staggered formation. Lead bike to the left side of the lane. Second bike to the right of the lane and so on all the way to the end of the group.

2. No side by side riding except to convey messages that are pertinent to the group.

3. No passing of other riders. Passing is only used for emergencies and conveying information to the group leader.

4. Know how to use hand signals properly. Do not use them if you are not going to use them correctly.

5. Wait in pairs at stop signs and stop signals.

6. Flash your brake lights before and during stops to communicate your intentions.

7. Run your bright lights (high beams) by day, and your low lights (low beams) for night riding.

8. The Road Captain sets the pace of the group. The Tailgunner enforces the pace. Never allow the Tailgunner to pass you while in formation. If so, this means you are going too slow and need to speed up. If you are unable to keep the pace, you could be removed from the ride.

9. Never leave a gap large enough for a cage (regular vehicle) to merge into the formation and split the group.

10. When riding on a multi-lane road and the Road Captain gives the signal to merge over into another lane, wait for the Tailgunner to move over and secure that lane (close the door) before the rest of the group merges.

11. If you are unable to ride the speed limit or have other special conditions, let the road captain know. A slower group will be formed to ride behind the main group. If you do not feel comfortable with these rules, please ride at the rear of the main group.

12. EMERGENCIES - In the event of an emergency where we need to pull over ASAP, use the signal to pull over AND turn your hazard lights on. If your bike does not have hazard signals, then turn a blinker on.

Relaying information / messages through the group.

1. When the Road Captain gives a hand signal, relay that signal all the way to the back of the group.

2. To convey a message to the Road Captain, honk your horn to get the attention of the rider in front of you and then give them the appropriate signal (i.e. want to pull over, we have lost a member(s), etc.). That rider should then repeat your actions to the rider in front of them, all the way to the front. The Road Captain will then decide the appropriate action to take (pull over at the next gas station, slowing down to let lost riders catch up, etc.)
